Founders


Jennifer Lee is co-founder of the Leixlip School of Music and is a teacher of violin and music theory. After completing a Bachelor of Music degree (Hons) in 2006, she was awarded the Professional Certificate in Higher-level Teaching from NUI Maynooth. Jennifer commenced a Masters of Literature degree in Musicology in 2006 and has been recently upgraded to doctoral level in twentieth century music at NUI Maynooth. She holds four years teaching experience in classical violin and music theory and works part-time in various venues around Dublin including Maynooth College, Kylemore College and Castleknock College. Jennifer founded the Violin Summer School in 2005, which she directed for two years, and The Leixlip Youth Strings from 2006-2007.


Linda Collins is co-founder of the Leixlip School of Music and is a teacher of pianoforte and flute. She graduated from NUI Maynooth with a Bachelor degree (Hons) in music in 2006 and completed the MA in Music Therapy in the University of Limerick in 2008. Linda has been teaching piano and flute for the past five years and also co-ordinated local Adult education classes in keyboard and music theory for two years. In Summer 2006, Linda also directed the Orchestra Summer School in Leixlip. From September 2008, Linda will be joining the teaching team of The Magic of Music and will be working with various schools across Dublin. Linda also continues to practice music therapy on a private basis.

Staff


Emer Nestor is a teacher of pianoforte and is currently completing doctoral research at NUI Maynooth where she has also worked as a member of the instrumental teaching staff since 2001. Emer studied pianoforte at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Réamonn Keary and was awarded both the Associate and Licentiate teaching diplomas. Emer taught pianoforte in Straffan Primary School from 1999-2005 where she also ran music summer camps. She has worked both as a solo performer and accompanist and has spoken at various musicological conferences at both national and international levels.


Claire Halligan is a teacher of voice and flute. Claire has trained with one of Ireland's foremost sopranos Kathryn Smith, as well as continuing her vocal tuition with Jeannie Reddin and Dr Veronica Dunne. Claire is currently studying music at Trinity College Dublin and has gained two High Achiever Awards with the Royal Irish Academy of Music for flute and drama. Claire is a highly experienced performer and has sang in major Irish venues including the National Concert Hall, Cork Opera House, Belfast's Waterfront Hall and the Millennium Forum. She continues to dedicate herself to both performing and teaching.


Victoria Fradgley is a teacher and director of drama. After graduating from the University of Wales with a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Film Studies, Victoria completed her classical training at the Drama Studio London and later graduated from the Advanced Performance Course at the Gaiety School of Acting. Victoria spent four years working as a professional actress in London and has appeared in several commercials and stage productions. She has taught drama in both academic and stage school settings to children in Ireland and the UK and has toured extensively around Wales leading various workshops with a Theatre in Education company. Victoria currently teaches adult drama with the Irish Academy of Dramatic Arts and continues to act professionally, as well direct and teach.


Ailish Leavy is a teacher of Speech and Drama who has taught in various educational settings including National Schools, Youth Clubs and Stage Schools. Ailish received her training at the Irish Academy of Dramatic Arts, the Betty Ann Norton Theatre School and the Gaiety School of Acting and is currently a member of Tabs Theatre Company. In 2007 she graduated from the London College of Music as a teacher of Speech and Drama. Ailish's own acting credits include for theatre: 'Christine', My Sister in this House, 'Chris', Dancing At Lughnasa, 'Hermia', A Mid Summer Night's Dream, 'Helena', Look Back in Anger, 'Amanda', For Whom the Southern Belle Tolles, and 'Marti', Scruples. For television: 'Ernie O'Malley' (TG4) and 'Garda Ar Lar' (RTE1).


Kira Deegan is a teacher of voice and piano who has gained extensive experience in vocal performance both in Ireland and abroad. Kira studied music from an early age with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Trinity College London, before graduating from NUI Maynooth with an Honours BA (Mus) degree. She was later awarded the Diploma in Opera Performance from the University of London (Birbeck). Kira has traveled with renowned performing groups such as Anuna, Celtic Women and Riverdance, where she appeared as lead vocal soloist. She has also been cast in professional operatic productions including Madame Butterfly, Lady Macbeth of Mtensck and The Flying Dutchman.


Dylan Curran is a teacher of guitar and violin who began his instrumental instruction from an early age at the Leinster School of Music and the Walton's New School of Music, Dublin. Dylan later studied Traditional Irish violin with Maireád O' Sullivan and was recently awarded a Bachelor of Music degree from NUI Maynooth. His main areas of interest lie in composition and Baroque music and Dylan recently enjoyed the debut of one of his own compositions entitled 'Pyrrhic Serenade' performed by the Dublin Guitar Quartet. Dylan is currently pursuing an MA in composition at NUI Maynooth and continues to teach guitar and violin part-time.
